制备方法：以川地龙生药或黄姜为原料，经水解、提取而得。
用途：本品是重要的甾族皂苷元，是半合成甾族化合物的重要原料。将薯蓣皂素进行开环、氧化、水解和消除反应，可制得孕甾双烯酮醇。再经肟化、重排和水解，可制得去氢表雄酮。这些中间体在药物生产中有重要价值。
